Inland Empire
Philatelic
Society

The Inland Empire Philatelic Society was formed in the early 1930's by a group of stamp collectors who got together for dinner every two weeks at the Desert Hotel. We now meet two times per month at the Riverview Terrace Retirement Home in Spokane at the corner of Upriver Drive and Granite. Business meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month except December (CHRISTMAS PARTY). General Membership meetings are held the fourth Tuesday of each month except July (PICNIC TIME) and December.

The Board of Directors (Nine Members) meets on the second Tuesday of the Month to conduct Society business. On the night of the business meeting, we also have a stamp mixture event. The society has purchased albums loaded with stamps and the contents are available to club members for a very nominal fee Stamps are priced anywhere from .05 cents to many for a dollar.

At our general membership meetings, we always have a 30 minute Featured Program and an auction - it is a lot of fun at reasonable prices. Bidding usually starts at $1.00.

The society sponsors two major stamp shows each year. In 2006 we will be hosting PIPEX 2006 (Pacific International Philatelic Exposition), an APS WSP (World Series of Philately) show. See the links at the top left of this page for more information. In September we will have a dealer bourse at the Northern Quest Casino in Spokane. More information on this as it becomes available..

The society also sponsors a joint meeting with the Missoula Montana Stamp Club annually. This meeting is held in Wallace, Idaho; a town well known for its mines - and bordellos - in the past!! The get together is lively, informative and a lot of fun and well attended. The meeting for 2005 was held on May 7th and was attended by over 40 members of the two clubs. The meeting for 2006 will be on May 6th.

John Arn from our club annually sets up a meeting at Moses Lake Washington for philatelists at all levels from around the northwest U.S. and Canada to get together for a day of stamps, stamps, and stamps. As with the Wallace adventure, Moses Lake is always well attended. Our next Moses Lake excursion is scheduled for April 7th and 8th, 2006. Click Here to go to the Northwest Federation web site and a link to the Moses Lake 2006 program and application when it becomes available.

In 2003, we initiated a new meeting with the Tri-Cities Washington Stamp Club, along the lines of the Missoula meeting, this time meeting in Ritzville, Washington. We have scheduled our meeting for August 5th for 2006. Meeting planning is under way now and we are looking forward to another successful get together.

In addition, the society has an all expense paid picnic at Manitou Park in July and a well subsidized Christmas Party in December.

As you can see, we are an active club and always looking for new ideas to promote the hobby and get people together.

Our dues are $5.00 for Associate (18 years of age and under), $10.00 for individual membership and $15.00 for family membership. Click Here to make out an application form.
